MOVE PP TRACKER

-Calculator-

Catching legendaries with special Poké Balls, tracking the moves of an SOS chain caller, and keeping a Smeargle healthy during a battle... all of these are examples where PP matters. Monitoring the PP is crucial to know how close the Pokémon is to using Struggle. But just as the move's name implies, it can sometimes be a struggle to keep track of PP.

To help make this easier, here is an easy-to-use PP tracker to assist you in avoiding potential surprises.

Battle log

Turn count: 0

More information.

How to use.

  • Type a move name in one of the boxes and select a suggestion. The PP will automatically be added to the count. Note that shadow moves from XD Gale of Darkness have infinite PP.
  • Alternatively, you can select one of the preset Pokémon movesets from the list above the moves. First select a game and then the Pokémon. This list includes Pokémon found in the overworld or special encounters like legendaries or interactable Pokémon.
  • Each move has a minus ( - ) button that decreases its PP count by 1 (cannot go below 0). This button will also advance the battle log by one turn and display an entry with the move used.
  • Likewise, each move has a plus ( + ) button that increases its PP count by 1 (cannot exceed its max PP). This button will NOT advance the battle log turns.
  • You can manually advance or go back turns using the "Turn +1" and "Turn -1" buttons, respectively.
  • The battle log shows when a move is used and the turn count is modified manually. You can delete an entry by clicking on it.
  • The Clear button wipes all the data in the moves and battle log sections.
  • Warn It is important to note that the current PP data is taken from Generation 9. Some moves may have different maximum values than previous generations. You can edit the PP at any time. Preset Pokémon sets use the PP from their respective generations.
  • The turn count cannot go below 0, and the same applies to a move's PP, which is also capped at its maximum.
  • Some of the Pokémon shown in the preset moveset list are Shiny locked. Some examples are Victini or Zoroark in Black and White. Don't forget to always check if you are hunting the correct target.

Recommendations.

  • This should be obvious, but make sure you aren't carrying a Pokémon with the Pressure ability. It will make the opposing Pokémon lose one more PP than usual.
  • Leppa Berry restores 10 PP when consumed. Paired with Trick/Switcheroo/Bestow and Recycle, it can make the wild Pokémon never run out of PP. The berry will be used whenever one of the moves reaches 0, and will only restore that move's PP. If there are multiple moves with 0 PP, whichever one is first in the move order will be restored. Keep this in mind for the tracker.
  • In continuation of the last point, avoid using a Pokémon with the Unnerve ability, as it prevents the use of berries.
  • Wild Smeargle only know one move: Sketch, which has 1 PP and copies the last move used. After using Sketch, if Smeargle fails to copy a move, it will start using Struggle, causing it to eventually faint. The best way to counter this is by using a high-PP move, such as Foresight, before Smeargle can act.
  • Ditto will copy your Pokémon's moveset after using Transform. Having a designated Pokémon with harmless, high-PP moves could be useful to prevent Struggle. In Generations 3 and 4, it will also copy the catch rate. One of the best options is using a Hoppip (255 catch rate) who knows Splash (40 PP), Cotton Spore (40 PP), Tackle (35 PP), and Tail Whip (30 PP) for a total of 145 PP.

Errors and suggestions.

You can use the contact page to report errors you may find. Suggestions are also always welcome!

The current version only has preset movesets for interactable and legendary Pokémon up to generation 5. More games will be added in the near future.
