SHINY OF THE WEEK
-Content archive-
In the "Shiny of the Week" section, like its name indicates, a different shiny Pokémon will be showcased every week, along with a few tips on where and how to hunt them
(or their preevolutions). This showcase also includes an image of the shinies through the generations, a small bit of information, and a Poké Ball
suggestion to colour-match with the Pokémon (remember that this is subjective, and the Poké Ball colours are very limited).
This section was launched on March 31, 2023.
There are currently 86 shinies in the archive.
Week 1 - Ludicolo ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
route 114 is a perfect spot to hunt for Lotad or Lombre, as it also has Seviper as a potential
phase. A level 17 repel trick in Emerald or Sapphire will yield 50% Swablu, 25% Lombre, and 25% Seviper.
- Generation 4:
Lotad can be found in Johto's safari zone, as well as a repel trick in Sinnoh in route 203 (level 5)
with 20% Lotad, along with 27.5% Starly, 27.5% Bidoof, 12.5% Shinx, and 12.5% Abra, as long as Sapphire is in your GBA slot and you
have beaten the Pokémon League.
- Generation 5:
Lotad is one of the Pokémon that can be found in the White Forest, while Pokémon Ranger Ralph is present.
Shiny of the week added 31/3/2023
Week 2 - Hitmontop ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Hitmontop can be hunted exclusively in Colosseum as a Shadow Pokémon, being one of the hard,
if not the hardest, Colosseum hunts. The other (much easier) way is by hatching Tyrogue eggs, a great target now specially
during the Egg Month shiny event.
- Generation 4:
Tyrogue can be obtained as a gift in Mt. Mortar after defeating blackbelt Kiyo (HGSS).
- Generation 5:
Tyrogue can be found as a mass outbreak/swarm in route 10 (Black 1 and White 1). An interesting
way to get it if you still want to do random encounters.
Shiny of the week added 7/4/2023
Week 3 - Arbok ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Arbok has a decent repel trick in Crystal, in route 28 (level 41). Arbok turns into a 50% target
(along with 25% Doduo and 25% Dodrio) as long as you don't hunt at night, with a 20% encounter rate. By increasing the level to 42,
you can put Arbok at 66.67%, and Dodrio at 33.33%, while only lowering the encounter rate by 5%.
- Generation 3:
Arbok also has a high percentage repel trick in Fire Red (83.33% level 44 in route 23) but it has an
abismal 5% encounter rate. The same location, but at level 42, will increase it to 15%, with a 33.33% Arbok, Primeape, and Fearow.
- Generation 4:
appears in both Sinnoh's Great Marsh and Johto's Safari Zone, although it can be quite challenging. The Sinnoh
games require Fire Red to be inserted in the GBA slot.
Shiny of the week added 14/4/2023
Week 4 - Spiritomb ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
can be found in route 209 after using the odd keystone and interacting with 32 people underground. Unique encounter
that can be hunted by soft resetting.
- Generation 5:
the only way to hunt Spiritomb in this generation is through eggs, so if you're looking for some cool, egg-exclusive hunts,
this one may be for you. Some of its egg moves are pain split, destiny bond, or nightmare.
- Generation 6:
similarly to generation 4, Spiritomb appears as a static encounter in Sea Mauville (ORAS) but with different
requirements. This time you will have to read about the odd keystone in a bookshelf, open a menu that covers the screen, and Spiritomb will be
behind you. Make sure to bring a Pokémon that knows taunt, as Spiritomb knows memento and may knock itself out before you can catch it.
Shiny of the week added 21/4/2023
Week 5 - Excadrill ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
can be found in dust clouds in most of the caves of the region, as both Drilbur and Excadrill.
The best place is the reversal mountain, during the first visit in the story, when you're walking with your friend, as this will spawn 2 Excadrill per
encounter. Make sure to buy a lot of repels!
- Generation 6:
can be hunted through the Dexnav in a mirage cave in ORAS (north of Fortree city and north of route 112).
Shiny of the week added 28/4/2023
Week 6 - Slurpuff ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 6:
can be found as a Swirlix in the Friend Safari (fairy type). It only appears in the wild in X, so this is
the only way to obtain it in Y. Swirlix hasn't appeared in many games in the wild (only XY and Sword), so this is one of the few ways to
hunt it.
- Generation 8:
Swirlix can be found in route 5 (30%), although it also appears in Glimwood Tangle as a lower percentage (10%), but with
other variety of cool Pokémon. Also appears in Max Raid Battles.
Shiny of the week added 5/5/2023
Week 7 - Tsareena ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 7:
Bounsweet can be found in the Lush Jungle, in the west area, with a 40% encounter chance, so it will be appearing
quite a lot
- Generation 8:
Tsareena can be found during Dynamax Adventures, keep an eye on it!
- Generation 9:
Bounsweet can appear as a mass outbreak in the forest areas of the region.
Shiny of the week added 12/5/2023
Week 8 - Cacturne ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Hoenn's desert (route 111) is the home of Cacnea, although Ruby and Sapphire are recommended over Emerald, as they have a
20% Cacnea encounter, versus Emerald's small 6%.
- Generation 4:
found in Sinnoh's desert (route 228), specially at night (goes from 20% to 40%!). A level 52 repel trick can make it go up to
57% (in Platinum, not worth it in the other two).
- Generation 5:
appears as a swarm in the outside area of the Reversal Mountain, along with the cool targets from that route.
Shiny of the week added 19/5/2023
Week 9 - Slaking ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Slakoth is one of the most sought-after shinies, being a 5% in Petalburg Woods with no way to increase it
through a repel trick.
- Generation 4:
Slakoth can appear as one of the daily mass outbreaks in Sinnoh, as a 40% encounter in the Eterna Forest.
- Generation 5:
has a 5% chance of appearing in the Pinwheel Forest through rustling grass (this forest also has dark grass
for double encounters). Vigoroth can be found by walking regularly in the grass, if you prefer easier encounters.
Shiny of the week added 27/5/2023
Week 10 - Mothim ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
can only be found in trees, either through the use of honey, or headbutt (route 38 HGSS). Remember that cute charm will NOT
be beneficial for this hunt, as it messes up the shiny odds. Burmy has a 50/50 gender ratio, so it isn't as bad as Combee.
- Generation 5:
Burmy can only be hunted through eggs, and will need to be traded up from generation 4.
- Generation 6:
Burmy has a 10% chance to appear in route 3 (XY), but can be increased to 27% through a level 5 repel trick.
Shiny of the week added 2/6/2023
Week 11 - Sigilyph ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
can be found inside the Deser Resort as a 10% encounter (16% with a level 20/19 repel trick for BW/B2W2). It
can also appear as one of N's wild Pokémon in Black 2 and White 2. Don't get confused with those sparkles!
- Generation 6:
can be found in route 10 in Kalos, as a 20% encounter (in the regular grass, not the one with flowers).
- Generation 7:
found in the Ultra Space Wilds, in the mountain area.
Shiny of the week added 10/6/2023
Week 12 - Magcargo ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Slugma can only appear in Kanto after beating the league, 12.5% with a level 29 repel trick in route 17 (GS). In
Crystal, it can go up to 25% with a level 32 repel trick (same route), but it only appears during the day.
- Generation 3:
Slugma is a guaranteed 100% encounter in Mt. Ember, although Magcargo can also appear by using rock smash (Kanto -
Sevii islands).

- Generation 3:
Exeggcute has a 20% chance to appear in the Kanto Safari Zone. Its catch rate is 90. It can also be found in the Berry
Forest, if you don't like having a chance to fail, although it's only 5% (up to 9% with a level 35 repel trick).
- Generation 4:
Exeggcute appears in the Great Marsh after obtaining the National Pokédex, but if that's still not your thing, it can be found
in a lot of routes in HGSS (routes 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 43, 47, and 48) and other locations, by using headbutt.

Week 40 - Jirachi ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Jirachi can be hunted in Ruby and Sapphire by transferring from Pokémon Channel or the Pokémon Colosseum Bonus Disk.
This setup needs you to own a Gameboy Advance, a Gamecube to GBA Link Cable, and a Gamecube. You will only be able to
send one Jirachi per save file, so it requires you to make a new save file for each reset (or save corruption).
The only other way to hunt Jirachi is through the Pomeg Berry glitch, which overwrites an egg to turn it into a Jirachi.
Shiny of the week added 31/12/2023
Week 41 - Tangrowth ▼▲

Shiny of the week added 5/1/2024

- Generation 3:
The two main south areas of the Safari Zone in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are home to Wobbuffet. You can boost it's
chance to appear to 100% with a level 28 repel trick, although this will make the encounter rate much more tedious (1%).
It can also appear in FireRed and LeafGreen, in the Cerluean Cave. A level 58 repel trick gets you a decent 25% chance
to find it, with a 20% encounter rate (B1F).
- Generation 4:
Can be found with the PokéRadar in all three of the lakes (except for Lake Acuity in Platinum).
Shiny of the week added 13/1/2024

on the first floor. In B2W2, only Yamask can be found in the Relic Castle, with a 40% chance to appear.
A Repel Trick is only recommended if you want to get rid of Sandshrew. At level 21, a Repel Trick leads
to a 50% chance (with a bad 10% encounter rate).
- Generation 6:
found in ORAS in some Mirage Caves north of Route 124 and south of Pacificlog Town, with a 40% and a 30%

in Emerald (48.68% Electrike, 21.33% Manectric).
- Generation 4:
Electrike appears on SInnoh as a daily outbreak, on Valley Windworks, for a 40% chance to appear, which can be boosted by Static.
- Generation 5:
Electrike and Manectric are some of those Pokémon that can't be hunted on Generation 5 (Manectric appears, but in the
shiny locked Hidden Grottos). The only way to get them is through eggs, which makes them a unique hunt.

Week 46 - Drifblim ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
After beating Team Galactic in Valley Windworks, a level 22 Drifloon will appear every Friday in front of the building,
which can be hunted through soft resets.
- Generation 5:
Drifblim appears on Routes 13 and 14, and on the outer area of the Giant Chasm. A level 59 repel trick gives a 40%

- Generation 6:
Drifblim can be one of the four Pokémon available on the third slot of ghost-type Friend Safaris on XY.

Hunt suggestions

14 repel trick with a 20% encounter rate (remember to use the Pokémon March on the radio).
- Generation 3:
in Hoenn, it appears on the Safari Zone Emerald extension (north). Luckily, it's one of the easier Pokémon to catch.
In Kanto, it can be found in the Pattern Forest, found along the way on the Green Path of Fortune Island. It has a
higher chance to appear in LeafGreen than FireRed (30% vs. 5%).
- Generation 5:
Ledian appears as a mass outbreak on Route 22 (White 2 only), which has a 40% chance of appearing. It can appear
at levels 15 to 55. Most levels won't be a problem, except anything above level 48 (included), as they know Double Edge.

Week 48 - Crustle ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
Crustle can be found during the story of Black 2 and White 2 inside the Seaside Cave, blocking one of the exits.
You need the Colress Machine to make it move away, prompting a wild battle before doing so. This Crustle can be
hunted normally through soft resets.
- Generation 6:
Dwebble can be found in XY on some rock-type Friend Safaris. In ORAS, Crustle can appear in stones after using Rock
Smash, on the Mirage Mountain east of Mossdeep City and the one on the south east of the region.
- Generation 7:
It can appear in the Ultraspace Wilds while going through a yellow wormhole into the cave area.
Shiny of the week added 24/2/2024
Week 49 - Rapidash ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Rapidash appears 100% of the time thanks to a level 44 repel trick on the outside part of Mt. Silver. Make sure to
increase the encounter rate (which would be at 10% with the repel) with the radio. It appears all day in Gold and
Silver, while only during the morning and day in Crystal.
- Generation 3:
Ponyta has a 35% chance to appear on the outside area of Mt. Ember (FireRed and LeafGreen), along with a 5% Rapidash.
- Generation 4:
Ponyta has a 50% chance to appear in the south area of Route 210 during the day (Diamond and Pearl). A level 40 repel

Week 50 - Swellow ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Swellow appears on Hoenn's Route 115 alongside Taillow for a combined 50% chance to find the evolution line
(10% for Swellow; 40% for Taillow).
- Generation 4:
Swellow appears on Sinnoh's Route 213 as a Pokéradar-exclusive Pokémon. The best place to chain it is on the patches
of grass found on the small mountain where you can use Rock Climb. Taillow can appear in Johto, to the right of
Cherrygrove City. By using Surf and Rock Climb, there's a small spot where you can use Headbutt in some trees.
It has a 35% chance to appear on special trees.
- Generation 5:
Swellow appears in a mass outbreak on Route 13 (only in Black 2 and White 2), with the typical 40% chance to appear.
Shiny of the week added 9/3/2024
Week 51 - Abomasnow ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
Snover has a 45% chance to appear on Lake Acuity in Platinum. It's better hunted during the day or morning, as Sneasel gets a higher
encounter chance during the night, lowering the probability of finding Snovers.
- Generation 5:
Snover doesn't appear in the wild in Unova, which makes it a good target for an egg hunt. Make sure to make it learn Leech Seed as an egg move,
which is the most interesting move it learns this way.
- Generation 6:
Snover and Abomasnow can be found on Kalos' Route 17, for a combined 31% chance (30% for Snover, 1% for Abomasnow). Snover can also appear in some Ice-type Friend Safaris.
Shiny of the week added 16/3/2024
Week 52 - Unown ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Unown appears inside the Ruins of Alph, but only Unowns I and V can be Shiny due to the way that shininess works and how the letter is determined in these games.
- Generation 3:
Unown appears in the Tanoby Ruins. Each chamber has different letters. Depending on your TID (trainer ID) and SID (secret ID), the shiny odds for the Unown will be
different depending on the letter. These odds can go as high as 1 in 5120, and as low as 1 in 18432.
- Generation 4:
Unown appears inside the Solaceon Ruins. There are some chambers where a specific letter will have a 100% chance to appear (letters F, R, I, E, N, and D). The rest
of the letters appear in the smaller rooms, while Unowns ! and ? only appear after catching all the other letters.

- Generation 3:
Oddish has a 40% chance to appear in both south areas of the Hoenn Safari Zone. Oddish has an up to 50% chance to appear on Route 7 (Kanto) with a level 22 repel trick.
- Generation 4:

Shiny of the week added 7/4/2024
Week 55 - Walrein ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Spheal has a 50% chance of appearing inside the Shoal Cave. It also has a 45% chance in the frozen floor, but with the addition of being
able to find Snorunt 10% of the time, for an ice-themed hunt.
- Generation 4:
Sealeo has a 60% chance to appear while surfing on Route 230 (Platinum) without the need for a repel trick. On the other hand, Spheal
has a 30% chance to appear on Routes 226 and 230 while surfing, only on Pearl. In HGSS, the only way to find them is in the Safari Zone.
- Generation 5:
Spheal has a 30% chance to appear while surfing on Undella Bay during winter, while Sealeo and Walrein can also appear on water shadows (30 and 5 percent, respectively).

Week 56 - Probopass ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Nosepass can be found by smashing the rocks in Granite Cave (BF2), with an up to 76.6% chance of appearing with a level 16 repel trick.
- Generation 4:
Nosepass has a chance to appear as one of the daily mass outbreaks, this time on Route 206, with a 40% chance to be found only in
Diamond and Pearl. In Platinum, it only has a 5% chance, without any repel trick that makes it go above 6%.
- Generation 5:
Nosepass appears inside Clay Tunnel, with up to a 33.33% chance of appearing with a level 57 repel trick, which is as high as it can go (Black 2 and White 2).
Shiny of the week added 20/4/2024
Week 57 - Crobat ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Zubat has an 85% chance of appearing in the Slowpoke Well, with the other 15% being Slowpoke itself. Hunting for Slowpoke is probably the
most common choice here, but Zubat is still a cool target to phase on during that hunt, especially because of Crobat.
- Generation 3:
The Altering Cave, both in Hoenn (Emerald) and the Sevii Islands (FireRed and LeafGreen), is probably the safest place to find a Shiny Zubat,
with a 100% chance of appearing in the wild.
- Generation 5:
Crobat can be found in the outside area of the Dreamyard (Black 2 and White 2). It can also be found on Black and White, but the other versions
let you increase its chance of appearing with lucky powers, as it only appears in shaking grass.
Shiny of the week added 27/4/2024
Week 58 - Druddigon ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
In B2W2, it can be found on the Victory Road, specifically the cave that leads to N's Castle. It has an 80% chance of appearing, but there
is a popular level 49 repel trick that reduces Druddigon to 50% but also increases Zweillous to the same amount, which makes for a perfect
dragon-themed hunt.
- Generation 6:
Druddigon can appear in Meteor Falls by using the Dexnav after obtaining the National Pokédex (ORAS). In XY, it's one of the few Pokémon
that can appear in dragon-type Friend Safaris.
- Generation 7:
Druddigon appears in USUM's Resolution Cave and can be hunted through SOS chains.
Shiny of the week added 5/5/2024
Week 59 - Mr. Mime ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Mr. Mime appears on Route 21. By using a level 28 repel trick (during the morning and day), it has a 16.67% chance of appearing, shared
with an 83.33% chance for Tangela (Crystal). In Gold and Silver, it can be bought for 3333 coins in the Rocket Game Corner, letting you
obtain up to 3 per reset.
- Generation 3:
A Mr. Mime can be obtained in FireRed and LeafGreen by trading it with an Abra, inside a house located south of the Digglet's Cave on Route
2. This is the only way to get a Mr. Mime without using spinoff games (XD: Gale of Darkness). Hunting Mr. Mime must be done through eggs.
- Generation 5:
Mr. Mime appears as a mass outbreak on Route 20 (White 2) with a 40% chance of appearing. Depending on the level, it may know Trick or
Substitute, moves to be aware of.

Week 60 - Regirock ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
can be found inside the Desert Ruins on Route 111. It must be activated first in the Sealed Chamber on Route 134. Remember to bring
Dig, Dive, and Surf, and Relicanth and Wailord on your team in order to activate all Regis. In Emerald only, it can be hunted by doing runaways.
- Generation 4:
appears inside the Rock Peak Ruins on Route 228, if you have a special event Regigigas on your team (Platinum only).
- Generation 5:
can be found in the Underground Ruins, at the end of Clay Tunnel. The RockHead key must be activated first, which can be found on the title screen
> Unova Link > Key System.
Shiny of the week added 18/5/2024
Week 61 - Lucario ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
Riley rewards the player with a Riolu egg after completing the Iron Island on Sinnoh. The game must be saved before receiving the egg.
Riolu can also be found in Johto's Safari Zone, in the Meadow area (requires 10 forest blocks, 14 rock blocks, and 70 days).
- Generation 5:
Black and White's Challenger Cave B2F is home to a 100% Riolu repel trick at level 50, although it has a low 9% encounter chance.
Riolu can also be found in Floccesy Ranch (Black 2 and White 2), but the highest chance to find it is 9% with a level 7 repel trick,
while it also has a low 11% encounter chance.
- Generation 6:
some fighting type Friend Safaris are home to Riolu in XY.
Shiny of the week added 26/5/2024
Week 62 - Ursaring ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
A level 33 repel trick makes Ursaring appear 50% of the time inside the Victory Road (only in Gold). There is
another level 25 repel trick in the Dark Cave for Crystal, with a 42.86% chance of appearing, but there's the
chance of finding Graveler, which will know Self-Destruct.
- Generation 3:
Teddiursa is a very common Pokémon to find in Emerald's Safari Zone extension (North) while Shiny hunting, as it
appears 30% of the time and the catch rate is not as bad as others. There is a level 36 repel trick that yields
50% Teddiursa, 25% Houndour, and 25% Miltank, although the encounter rate is only 20%.
- Generation 4:
There is an 80% chance of finding Ursaring through a level 35 repel trick on Route 217 (Platinum) while having
Emerald in the GBA slot. The only problem is the encounter rate, which is 10%.
Shiny of the week added 12/7/2024
Week 63 - Whimsicott ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
It can appear 25% of the time with a level 16 repel trick inside Pinwheel Forest, with a 20% encounter rate (a level
17 repel trick would make it 50% but with only a 2% encounter rate). In Black 2, it can be found 50% of the time
alongside Eevee on Castelia Park with a level 17 repel trick, although the encounter rate is only 10%.
- Generation 6:
Cottonee can be found in Petalburg Forest through the use of the Dexnav (ORAS). Keep in mind that, due to the Dexnav
making Pokémon with hidden abilities and egg moves appear, you could have a Shiny Cottonee with Prankster and Memento
appear. Make sure to always check the Dexnav's warnings and keep a Pokémon with Prankster and Taunt on the team (or be
ready to use a Master Ball).

Week 65 - Wigglytuff ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Jigglypuff can appear 20% of the time with a level 12 repel trick with a 25% encounter rate on Route 34 (Crystal),
which is the highest possible percentage for Jigglypuff without going for a slow 100% chance with a 1% encounter rate.
- Generation 3:
Jigglypuff has a 10% chance of appearing on Route 115 in Emerald. The only decent repel trick available (level 24) only
boosts it to 16.67% while having a 60% encounter rate, which doesn't seem like much of an advantage.
- Generation 5:
Wigglytuff can appear on rustling grass on Route 14 in Black and White. In Black 2 and White 2, it also appears with
the same type of encounter, but on Routes 1 and 2, and on the Dreamyard.
Shiny of the week added 2/8/2024
Week 66 - Kyogre ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
It appears during the story of Sapphire inside the Cave of Origin. It also appears in Emerald inside the Marine Cave,
whose location has to be found with the help of the scientist at the Weather Institute.
- Generation 4:
Inside the Embedded Tower, on Route 47, Johto. The Blue Orb must be in your bag in order to make it appear,
which can only be obtained from Mr. Pokémon after finishing all Kanto gyms, beating Red, and obtaining one of
the Kanto starters from Professor Oak. HeartGold exclusive.
- Generation 7:
Can appear in the Ultra Space Wilds in the waterfalls area, through a blue wormhole. Ultra Moon exclusive.

Week 67 - Lumineon ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
Lumineon can be found 45% of the time while fishing on Route 220 in Platinum (Super Rod), being the most
common Pokémon that appears this way (the other two are Gyarados, which has a 40% chance, and Chinchou, which is 15%).
- Generation 5:
Lumineon appears 40% of the time by fishing on rippling water on Routes 4, 17, and 18, as well as Virbank City and Virbank
Complex (outside) in Black 2 and White 2. The use of a Lucky Power would only decrease the chance of finding it, so it
depends on what other targets you prefer from each location.
- Generation 6:
Lumineon appears on most of Hoenn's routes with water through the use of Dexnav.
Shiny of the week added 24/8/2024
Week 68 - Azumarill ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Marill is one of the Pokémon that can be found through a special mass outbreak. In this case, it takes place on
Mt. Mortar, with a 40% chance for Marill. This outbreak is notified by Hiker Parry from Route 45.
- Generation 3:
Marill has a 99% chance of appearing on Route 117 (surfing). The other 1% is Surskit (Ruby and Sapphire) or Goldeen
(Emerald), although it is obviously very unlikely to phase here. Surskit is still the best option if it happens to you.
- Generation 4:
Marill is one of the Pokémon that appear on the Great Marsh very commonly. Although if you are not interested in the
safari gamble, it can also appear on the Trophy Garden (alongside Azurill). As for HGSS, the Generation 2 mass
outbreak is also present in those games. A level 15 repel trick can bring it to 60%.

Week 69 - Chandelure ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
Litwick appears 100% of the time on multiple floors of the Celestial Tower. The bike isn't allowed inside though,
so you will have to press the run button constantly.
- Generation 6:
Litwick has a 20% chance of appearing inside the Lost Hotel (XY), alongside other interesting targets like Pawniard and Klefki.
All of the Pokémon here have the same encounter percentage, so you will have an equal chance of finding any Shiny.
- Generation 7:
Litwick is one of the Pokémon that can be found through the Island Scan system, specifically on Hau'oli Cemetery
(on Saturdays). They will come with the special move Acid.
Shiny of the week added 8/9/2024
Week 70 - Gengar ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Gastly has an 85% chance of appearing in Sprout Tower, only at night. It can be boosted up to 100% with a
level 6 repel trick, but the encounter chance plummets down to 5%; 85% is enough to not sacrifice the encounter speed.
- Generation 3:
Gastly and Haunter appear inside Kanto's Pokémon Tower. Their percentage varies between floors, being 90% and 75% the
highest and lowest for Gastly, and 15% and 1% the highest and lowest for Haunter. The rest is shared with Cubone. Lost
Cave is also a location to consider if you're interested in Murkrow/Misdreavus too.
- Generation 4:
In Diamond and Pearl, the Old Chateau has a level 16 repel trick to increase Gengar and Haunter encounters to a 50/50
chance, although the encounter rate is low (8%). A GBA game must be inserted in order to make them appear in the first place.
Shiny of the week added 13/9/2024
Week 71 - Aggron ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Thanks to being a steel-type, Aron's encounter chance can get boosted with Magnet Pull, going as high as 70%
in Granite Cave's deepest floor, without even needing a repel trick (this ability's out-of-battle effect is
exclusive to Emerald).
- Generation 4:
Aron is Poké Radar exclusive in Diamond and Platinum, appearing outside of Fuego Ironworks. It can also appear in
Johto thanks to its special Safari Zone, requiring 24 peak blocks to appear on Rocky Beach (after obtaining the
National Pokédex). Remember to use Magnet Pull for any of these hunts.
- Generation 5:
Aron appears in the White Forest when Hiker Gene is present. Check the
Old-Gen Shiny hunter manual Generation 5's section to know more about the White Forest.

Week 73 - Mismagius ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
Misdreavus is one of the Pokémon that appear in Eterna Forest and can be hunted through double encounters. It appears
20% of the time at night (only in Pearl), and the highest it can go with a repel trick is only 25%. It also appears at
the same time of the day inside the Lost Tower, and with a level 18 repel trick on the 2nd floor, it can go as high as
33.33% with a 60% encounter rate.
- Generation 5:
Mismagius has a small chance to appear on rustling grass on Abundant Shrine. This is only available in White though,
so the encounter rate cannot be boosted and will remain at 5%.
- Generation 6:
Misdreavus can be found on Routes 114 and 115 through the use of Dexnav in both Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, so it
should be an easy, chill hunt. Always make sure to check for any dangerous moves.
Shiny of the week added 06/10/2024
Week 74 - Furret ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Furret is one of the Pokémon that appears as a Shadow Pokémon in Colosseum. Owned by Rogue Cail, during his first
fight on Pyrite Town (mandatory battle, before the Master Ball). FireRed and LeafGreen also have wild Sentrets in some areas.
Specifically, the Canyon Entrance is home for them, with a 30% encounter chance. Usually it would be one of the phases while
hunting for Larvitar on that same area.
- Generation 4:
Sentret appears exclusively through the use of the Pokéradar on Sinnoh, on Route 202. It has a 22% chance to appear.
- Generation 5:
Sentret appears during mass outbreaks on Route 7 in Black and White. Furret, on the other hand, appears at the same location with
the same method, but in Black 2 and White 2. They both have a 40% chance to appear.
Shiny of the week added 13/10/2024
Week 75 - Maractus ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
Maractus appears 10% of the time both on the entrance and the inside area of the Desert Resort, in all
Generation 5 games. A repel trick will not increase its appearance rate significantly enough to make it
worthwhile in any of these games (up to 16.67%).
- Generation 6:
Maractus can appear in some plant-type Friend Safaris, on the 3rd slot (XY). As for ORAS, it can appear in
one of the Mirage Islands, specifically the one located to the south of Route 134. There, it has a 10% chance
to appear, but thanks to the Dexnav, that won't be a problem.
Shiny of the week added 20/10/2024
Week 76 - Poliwrath ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Poliwag appears on a lot of routes with water, where it has an 80% chance of appearing using the Super Rod, like on Route 6.
- Generation 3:
Poliwag and Poliwhirl also appear on a lot of routes with water in Kanto and the Sevii Islands, where they have a combined
80% chance to appear with the Super Rod, for example on Routes 6 and 23.
- Generation 5:
Poliwrath appears while fishing on rippling water on Route 23, Wellspring Cave, Giant Chasm, and a few more places. Luckily
it appears on Black 2 and White 2, so you can use Lucky Powers to increase its encounter chance from 5% to 10, 20, or even
40% depending on the level (↑, ↑↑, or ↑↑↑).
Shiny of the week added 27/10/2024
Week 77 - Zangoose ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Zangoose is a Pokémon exclusive to Ruby in generation 3, and the best place to hunt it is Route 114, where it can
appear 25% of the time thanks to a level 17 repel trick (20% encounter rate).
- Generation 5:
A level 50 (normal grass) or 60 (dark grass) repel trick can get Zangoose up to a 25% chance to appear on Village
Bridge, alongside its mortal enemy Seviper (also 25%), with a 20% encounter rate (BW). In B2W2, they have a 50/50
chance at the same location at repel trick levels 39 or 43, depending on the grass.
- Generation 6:
Kalos has hordes on Route 8 where Zangoose can appear alongside Seviper. Be careful though, as they will try to attack
each other due to their rivalry. Make sure to prepare by leading with a Pokémon with the Telepathy ability and Skill
Swap to give the Shiny a protection against the other Pokémon.

Phanpy appears both in Kanto and Hoenn, with a 20% (Sevault Canyon) and 30% (Safari Zone Northeast) chance to appear,
respectively, with no repel trick available.
- Generation 4:
Phanpy is available in all Sinnoh games as a mass outbreak on Route 207 (40% chance).

Week 80 - Heatmor ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
Heatmor appears at the entrance to Victory Road in BW, 45% of the time, with no repel trick that makes it more
likely to appear. On the other hand, the best chance to find it in B2W2 is the Twist Mountain (Summer) with a
level 55 repel trick, which will make it only go up to 28.57% with a 70% encounter rate.
- Generation 6:
Heatmor is a rare spawn on XY's Route 18, with only a 5% chance to appear, which can only go up to 7.14% with a
repel trick. The other Pokémon (Gurdurr, Sandslash, Lairon, Graveler, Torkoal, and Durant) are at least very good
targets to phase on.

Week 81 - Hypno ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 2:
Drowzee and Hypno share a 50/50 chance to appear on Route 11 in Gold and Silver, thanks to a level 16 repel trick, with
a 20% encounter rate.
- Generation 3:
You can soft reset for a special encounter with Hypno in the Berry Forest (Kin Island), during Lostelle's rescue mission.
It appears at level 30 and is mandatory in order to continue with the story, so you may not want to miss out on it.
- Generation 5:
Hypno appears as a mass outbreak in B2W2, with the typical 40% encounter chance, on the Dreamyard. It shares the
encounter pool with other interesting shinies like Liepard or Munna.

Week 82 - Gorebyss ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Clamperl appears underwater, where the encounters can be a bit slower than usual due to the fact that you can't run, but
it's compensated by the fact that Clamperl appears 65% of the time. You can also use Sweet Scent instead of moving around.
- Generation 4:
Clamperl can be fished with the Super Rod on Routes 219 and 221 (Diamond and Pearl only), but it has a really small 15%
chance to appear. It also appears as a mass outbreak in HGSS, with a much higher (and easier) encounter: 60% while surfing
on Route 19. It can also go up to an 85.71% chance and a 70% encounter rate with a level 35 repel trick.
- Generation 5:
Clamperl has a 40% chance to appear while fishing with the Super Rod on Route 4 in all Gen 5 games, though the other
Pokémon that appear are different between BW and B2W2.

Week 83 - Drapion ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 4:
Skorupi appears on the Great Marsh as one of the changing Pokémon. Drapion replaces it after obtaining the National
Pokédex. Skorupi also appears on the Johto Safari Zone (Wasteland, with 28 peak blocks). Both Skorupi and Drapion are
only available in the wild with the extra added risk of fleeing, so this can be a good target to hunt through eggs as
well. Remember to give it any uncommonly seen egg moves, like Whirlwind.
- Generation 5:
Skorupi has a 30% chance to appear in Black 2 and White 2 on Reversal Mountain's exterior. Sadly, it doesn't have a repel
trick that increases its encounter rate, but it can also appear in dark grass.

Week 84 - Smeargle ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Before hunting:
prepare a Pokémon that knows a move with a high amount of PPs (like Growl) and a sleep-inducing
one. Using Recycle alongside Trick with a Leppa Berry could be useful but may be overkill.
- Generation 3:
It has a 100% chance to appear in Artisan Cave in Emerald. It can also be hunted inside the Altering Cave, located in
Hoenn (Emerald) and Kanto (FireRed and LeafGreen). To know more about the Altering Cave, you can check the
Altering Cave Target Modifier.
- Generation 5:
Appears as a swarm with a 40% encounter chance on Route 5 (Black and White).

Week 85 - Golurk ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 5:
Both Golett and Golurk appear on Dragonspiral Tower (2F) with a 100% chance to appear each. The evolution stage you find
will depend on which game you play (Black and White or Black 2 and White 2). Be careful with Golurk, as they may know Curse.
- Generation 6:
Golurk can appear in XY's Friend Safari, on the 3rd slot. You could potentially phase on Shuppet or Lampent (slot 1) or
Phantump or Pumpkaboo (slot 2).

Week 86 - Golem ▼▲
Hunt suggestions
- Generation 3:
Geodude can be found 55% of the time in the Magma Hideout (Emerald only). In Kanto, Geodude can go up to 100% with
a level 31 repel trick in Mt. Ember (B1F), having a 70% encounter rate.
- Generation 4:
Graveler and Geodude can be found in varying percentages inside Iron Island. The best location overall is B1F West,
for a total of 70%. You can take advantage of the double encounters with Riley.
- Generation 5:
Graveler can only appear in one location in all of Teselia: the Challenger's Cave (Black and White only). The chance to
find it is not high (around 20%), but there are multiple targets worth phasing on.
